Assistant caretaker of the Black Stars, George Boateng has hinted that his outfit will try to convince the likes of Tarique Lamptey, Hudson Odoi, Mohammed Salisu and so on to augment the side ahead of the upcoming FIFA World Cup.

George Boateng together with Otto Addo, Didi Dramani and Chris Hughton led Ghana to the 2022 World after edging Nigeria in the playoff on away goals.

Ghana has been drawn in Group H alongside Portugal, South Korea and Uruguay for the group stages of the Mundial to be played in Qatar between November 21 to December 18.

Ahead of the commencement of the World Cup, there has been reports that the FA and the technical team will set sights on convincing some few players to augment Ghana’s team for the competition.

“The expectations should be that the GFA, whether the current technical team or a new one should try and fight hard to try and get these players on board. The Tarique Lamptey’s, the Hudson Odoi’s, the Salisu’s because they will really help the competition within the team,” George Boateng told Joy Sports.

“If you have caliber of that level, the other players will have to perform better and is a healthy situation for us, so that should be the expectation for the nation that the FA and the new or current technical team will have to fight hard.

“Whatever it is possible, whether they have to fly personally there to meet the player or to speak to their agents, their parents , the coaches, the club that they work for and whatever they need to do, they have to, because it is important that they come on board to give Ghana a slight chance to make it at the World Cup.

“I know that people will probably think that Ghana should go there and do something that has never been done before. I think that is not right, I think we should stay grounded, we’ve just qualified and this is the time when we are going to spend our time and looking at those players you’ve mentioned to try and get them on board to help those we already have,” he added.

The Black Stars will start their campaign against Portugal on Thursday, November 24, before playing Uruguay on Monday, November 28 and South Korea on Friday, December 2.
