NPP’s Gabby Otchere-Darko receives customised jersey from Arsenal Star Thomas Partey

Huge Arsenal fan Gabby Otchere-Darko could not hide his excitement after receiving a customised jersey from the Gunners star midfielder Thomas Partey.

Partey presented the jersey to the Ghanaian politician and lawyer on his return to the country for international duty with the Black Stars.

Otchere-Darko is a leading member of the ruling New Patriotic Party. Although he holds no official position, many say he is influential in decision-making because he is President Nana Akufo-Addo’s cousin.

He took to social media to announce receiving the gift from Partey while revealing that the in-form midfielder has been invited for the Black Stars clash with Nigeria.

“His name is Thomas Partey and he’s arrived and ready to clip the wings of the Eagle that is still green on the pitch as far as the Black Stars are concerned.” Gabby tweeted with a picture of Partey.

Partey will captain Black Stars for the 2022 World Cup play-off tie in the absence of the suspended Andre Ayew.

The former Atletico Madrid is highly motivated coming into the tie following his excellent displays in the Premier League for Arsenal.

The midfielder in recent weeks has demonstrated his quality, proving he merits the 50 million euros the Gunners spent to bring to the Emirates two years ago.

He was recently named as Arsenal Player of the Month for February, having dominated games and inspired Arsenal’s impressive run to the top four.

Black Stars will commence preparations for the two games on Monday evening with their first training.

They will on Tuesday travel to Kumasi where they will hold two training sessions ahead of the first leg on Friday, March 25.

The return leg will be played four days later in Abuja at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium.

The winner of the tie will be in Qatar for the World Cup later this year.

Ghana are aiming for a fourth appearance after missing the 2018 edition in Russia, while Nigeria are hoping to qualify for a seventh.
